The proposed building design for newly constructed office buildings must have a source energy (EDR 1) compliance margin of at least 10%; all other nonresidential occupancies must have compliance margin of at least 6%.

San Luis Obispo EE

The proposed building design for newly constructed buildings must have a source energy (EDR 1) compliance margin of at least 6 points.

The proposed building design for newly constructed buildings must have a source energy (EDR 1) compliance margin of at least 9 percent for low-rise multifamily buildings; and 3 percent for high-rise multifamily buildings.

The proposed building design for newly constructed buildings must have a source energy (EDR 1) compliance margin of at least 7 percent for all nonresidential occupancies.

The compliance margin is not required for nonresidential occupancies that are designed with single zone space-conditioning systems.

Santa Clara PV

Hotel/motel occupancies and high-rise multifamily buildings with ten habitable stories or fewer, shall install a minimum PV system sized at 3 kW for buildings less than 10k sq. ft. ;  or a PV system sized at 5kW for buildings greater than 10k sq. ft.

Nonresidential buildings with three habitable stories or fewer, other than I-2 and I-2.1 buildings shall install a minimum PV system sized at 3 kW for buildings less than 10k sq. ft. ;  or a PV system sized at 5kW for buildings greater than 10k sq. ft.

As an alternative to a solar PV system, the building type may provide a solar hot water system (solar thermal) with a minimum collector area of 40 square feet.

Santa Cruz EE

The proposed building design for newly constructed buildings must have a source energy (EDR 1) compliance margin of at least 9 points.

New nonresidential office buildings shall include 20% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 30% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable.

All other new nonresidential buildings shall include 10% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 10% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable. Requirements for Public Parking Lots and Overnight Accommodations.

Residential: Affordable Housing buildings

Palo Alto EV

All new buildings  are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space.

All new multifamily buildings  are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space per unit OR Low power Level 2 receptacle for 60% of spaces, 5% of spaces with Level 2 EVSE, and 25% of spaces EV-Capable.

New Hotels: At least 10% Level 2 EVSE installed and 30% EV-Ready spaces.

New nonresidential buildings with 10-20 spaces shall provide 20% of spaces with Level 2 EVSE and 20% of spaces with Level 2 EV-Capable.

New nonresidential buildings with greater than 20 spaces shall provide 15% of spaces with Level 2 EVSE and 15% of spaces with Level 2 EV-Capable.

ADU's

Pleasanton EV

All new buildings are required to provide two Level 2 EV-Ready parking spaces; if two spaces are provided.

New multifamily and Hotels/Motels projects with less than 20 dwelling units shall include 15% of units with Level 2 EVCS and the remaining units with Low Power Level 2 EV-Ready.

Existing multifamily and Hotels/Motels projects with greater than 20 dwelling units who add new parking facilities shall include 10% of new spaces with EVCS. Existing EV-Capable spaces shall be upgraded to a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready.

New nonresidential office buildings shall include 20% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 30% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable. Existing office buildings who add new parking facilities shall include 10% of new spaces with EVCS. Existing EV-Capable spaces shall be upgraded to a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready.

All other new nonresidential buildings shall include 10% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 10% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable. Existing buildings who add new parking facilities shall include 10% of new spaces with EVCS. Existing EV-Capable spaces shall be upgraded to a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready.

Accessory Dwelling Units( ADU) and Junior Accessory Dwelling Units( JADU) without additional parking facilities and without electrical panel upgrade or new panel installation.

Redwood City EV

All new buildings are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space. If a second space is provided; it shall be a Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New multifamily buildings shall provide 40% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  60% of dwelling units with parking spaces shall be provided with a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New nonresidential Class B office buildings shall include 20% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 10% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable.

All other new nonresidential buildings shall include 10% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 10% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable

Hotels/Motels buildings shall include 5% of spaces with Level 2 EVCS,  25% of spaces with Low Power Level 2 EV-Ready, and remaining 10% of spaces with Low Power Level 2 EV-Capable.

ADU's and JADU's without additional parking facilities and without electrical panel upgrade or new panel installation.

Where additional utility infrastructure costs increase construction costs by $4500 per space.

Rolling Hills EV

For each dwelling unit, install a listed raceway and a dedicated 208/240-volt branch circuit.

New multifamily and Hotels/Motels projects with less than 20 dwelling units shall include 5% of spaces with Level 2 EVCS (in addition to at least 1 common use EVCS), 30% of spaces with Low Power Level 2 receptacles, and 15% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable.

New multifamily and Hotels/Motels projects with greater than 20 dwelling units shall include 15% of spaces with Level 2 EVCS  (in addition to at least 1 common use EVCS), 30% of spaces with Low Power Level 2 receptacles, and 15% of spaces Level 2 EV-Capable.

Affordable Housing: reduced EV requirements.

New nonresidential buildings shall provide EV spaces in accordance to Table 5.106.5.3.1 (amended).

New nonresidential buildings shall provide EV spaces in accordance to Table 5.106.5.3.1 (amended).

Areas of parking facilities served by parking lifts. An automatic load management system (ALMS) may be used to reduce the maximum required electrical capacity to each space served by the ALMS.

San Anselmo EV

All new constructed buildings must meet CALGreen Tier 1 measures.

Additions/Alterations: A project where the main electrical panel is upgraded shall comply with CALGreen Measure A4.106.8.1, Tier 1.

New multifamily buildings shall provide 15% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  85% of dwelling units with parking spaces shall be provided with a minimum Low Power Level 2 EV-Ready space.

Additions/Alterations: EV requirements for parking facilities upgrading the service panel or modifications to the parking lot surface (including removal of paving material and curbing.)

New nonresidential construction are required to meet CALGreen Tier 1 level charging capability.

New multifamily buildings and hotels/motels with greater than 20 dwelling units shall provide 10% of spaces with Level 2 EVSE, 25% of spaces of Level 2 EV-Ready, 30% of spaces with Level 2 EV-Capable.

San Carlos EV

All new buildings (including ADU's) are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space. If a second space is provided; it shall be a Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New multifamily buildings shall provide 40% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  60% of dwelling units with parking spaces shall be provided with a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready space.

Existing buildings who add new parking facilities shall include 10% of new spaces with Level 2 EV-Ready.

Santa Clara EV

All new buildings are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space. If a second space is provided; it shall be a Level 1 EV-Ready space.

For parking spaces not assigned to a dwelling unit: 25% of the unassigned parking space(s) shall be Level 2 EV Ready spaces, 75% of the unassigned space(s) shall be Low Power Level 2 EV Ready spaces.

New multifamily and Hotel/Motel projects with less than 20 dwelling units shall include one parking space per dwelling unit with a Level 2 EV Ready space. All multifamily developments shall include secured bicycle parking with 110v electrical outlets.

New multifamily projects with more than 20 dwelling units shall include one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space for the first 20 dwelling units, and for additional units: 25% of units shall provide one Level 2 EV-Ready space, 75% of units shall provide one Low Power Level 2 EV-Ready space . All multifamily developments shall include secured bicycle parking with 110v electrical outlets.

Hotels/motels projects with more than 20 sleeping units shall include 10% of spaces with Level 2 EVCS. An additional 50% of spaces shall be EV-Capable.

Affordable Housing: new buildings shall provide 10% of units with parking spaces with 1 Level 2 EV-Ready space, and remaining units with one Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New nonresidential buildings shall include 35% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS, and 35% of spaces Level 1 EV-Capable.

Santa Monica EV

For each dwelling unit, install a listed raceway and a dedicated 208/240-volt branch circuit (Level 2).

New multifamily and hotel/motel projects units shall provide 5% of spaces with Level 2 EVSE,  60% of spaces with Level 2 EV-Ready,  and 10% Level 2 EV-Capable.

Existing buildings who add new parking facilities or electrical systems/lighting shall include 10% of new spaces with Level 2 EV-Capable.

New office buildings shall provide an additional 20% of Low Power Level 2 EV-Ready spaces.

New nonresidential buildings shall provide EV spaces as required by CALGreen Tier 1 (Table A5.106.5.3.1).

Saratoga EV

All new buildings are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready and a Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New multifamily buildings shall provide 40% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  60% of dwelling units with parking spaces shall be provided with a minimum Level 1 EV-Ready space.

Additions: new parking facilities or electrical systems/lighting shall include 10% of new spaces with EVCS. Existing EV Capable spaces shall be upgraded to a minimum of Level 1 EV Ready. ALMS requirements.

Solana Beach EV

For each dwelling unit, install a listed raceway and a dedicated 208/240-volt branch circuit (Level 2).

New multifamily buildings and hotels/motels shall provide 25% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  75% of dwelling units with parking spaces shall be provided with a minimum Level 2 EV-Capable space.

New nonresidential buildings shall provide 20% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  35% of parking spaces shall be Level 2 EV-Capable spaces.

New nonresidential buildings shall provide 20% of units with parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS.  35% of parking spaces shall be Level 2 EV-Capable spaces.

Sunnyvale EV

All new buildings are required to provide one Level 2 EV-Ready parking space. If a second space is provided; it shall be a Level 1 EV-Ready space.

New multifamily buildings shall provide 30% of units with parking spaces shall be Level 2 EV-Ready.  70% of remaining units shall provide Level 1 EV-Ready spaces.

New Hotels/Motels shall provide 20% of parking with Level 2 EV-Ready spaces. 50% of spaces shall be Level 1 EV-Capable.

New nonresidential office buildings shall include 35% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS and 35% of spaces Level 1 EV-Capable.

New nonresidential buildings shall include 35% of parking spaces with Level 2 EVCS, and 35% of spaces Level 1 EV-Capable. A Level 3 EVCS shall be provided for every 100 spaces.

ADU's and JADU's without additional parking facilities.
